Many people love soul food. Soul food is a uniquely American cuisine commonly associated with African Americans, having originated in the South during the time of slavery. Most soul food is simple fare that can be created from inexpensive ingredients. Soul food uses a great variety of dishes and ingredients, some unique, some shared with other cuisines. Soul food can be found at many restaurants that specialize in African American cuisine. There are also specialty stores that sell a variety of items and ingredients associated with soul food.
